Buddha Jayanti
Ashford Kent, 2nd May 2026 Buddhist Community Centre Kent (BCC Kent) successfully marked the auspicious occasion of the 2570th Buddha Jayanti at Palri Ling Buddhist Community Centre Kent. The annual celebration, observed with deep reverence and spiritual unity, brought together devotees, community members, and well‑wishers from across the region. This year’s programme was honoured by the distinguished presence of Madam Mayor Lyn Suddards, The Worshipful the Mayor of Ashford Borough Council. Upon her arrival, she was warmly received by BCC Kent Chairman Mr Nimtenji Sherpa. The mayor joined the congregation in prayers for global peace and harmony and lit a ceremonial lamp, symbolising hope, compassion, and collective goodwill. Following the communal lunch and group photographs, the programme continued with a Mandala Offering and a Dharma teaching delivered by the Venerable Monk Khenpo Chhime Norbu Sherpa. The teachings were translated into both English and Nepali, ensuring accessibility for all attendees and reflecting BCC Kent’s commitment to inclusivity.
The afternoon session featured another Mandala Offering and the Tsok Offering, important rituals representing generosity, purification, and the accumulation of merit. The event culminated in the deeply revered Guru Darshan and Blessing, offering spiritual renewal and inspiration to all participants.
The celebration concluded in a peaceful and uplifting atmosphere, leaving the community with a renewed sense of gratitude, unity, and shared joy. The event once again highlighted BCC Kent’s ongoing dedication to promoting Buddhist values, cultural heritage, and community cohesion within Kent and beyond.
